Strolls to GAIN Homes

To promote the suitability of greyhounds as pets in Ireland a number of Greyhound Strolls/Walks were organised throughout Ireland during the month of August 2017

The “Strolls to GAIN Homes” campaign afforded members of the public the opportunity to meet and interact with greyhounds along each route and also demonstrated to the public that greyhounds are no different from other domestic dogs and that they too make fantastic pets

Greyhounds encountered other breeds of dogs along the chosen routes and this demonstrated that greyhounds are compatible with other breeds of dog

There were spot prizes for best turned out greyhounds and runners-up at each location – Prizes kindly sponsored by GAIN Dog Nutrition

A few simple rules which needed to obeyed by all Owners/Handlers of greyhounds on the Strolls:
- All greyhounds to be kept on leads
- All Owners and Handlers are required to clean up after their greyhounds

Volunteers attended many of the walks to assist in the walking of greyhounds and the promotion of greyhounds as pets. Families were made very welcome.

Strolls in Phoenix Park and grounds of Kilkenny Castle were with kind permission of OPW.
