  • Foster a retired greyhound until the greyhound has found his or her “Forever Home”
    • A suitable greyhound for your personal and family circumstances can be sourced for you to foster until such time as the greyhound can be adopted. A retired greyhound who has experience of living in a home environment tends to be adopted quicker than a retired greyhound being rehomed directly from a kennel environment. If the greyhound is compatible with family pets such as small dogs and cats this also helps in the rehoming of a retired greyhound
  • To showcase the suitability of greyhounds as pets to the general public in your area you could organise or promote events such as:
    • Retired Greyhound Strolls/Walks around your local park – these events to be promoted on local radio and local print media, etc.
    • Retired Greyhound Shows at a suitable location in your area – Again events to be promoted on local radio and local print media, etc. and owners and trainers in your area would then need to be encouraged to enter their greyhounds in these Shows as well as in other local Dog Shows or local Agricultural Shows where there are Dog Shows

Try a Birthday Fundraiser in aid of The Irish Retired Greyhound Trust!

Make your Birthday even more meaningful and host a birthday fundraiser and let your special day make a big difference.

Every day more than 45 million people give birthday wishes on Facebook, which is why we’re excited they also give people the opportunity to create fundraisers, dedicate their birthday and raise for money for the Irish Retired Greyhound Trust.

How does it work?

Two weeks before their birthday, people will see a message from Facebook in their News Feeds giving them the option to create a fundraiser for their birthday.

You can then create a fundraiser nominating the Irish Retired Greyhound Trust as your dedicated charity.  All of your friends will receive a notification inviting them to support your cause in honour of your special day.

Simple Steps to making your day help make a big difference:

  1. Create your fundraiser and nominate the Irish Retired Greyhound Trust
  2. Set an amount you would like to raise.
  3. Tell your story and why you have nominated The Irish Retired Greyhound Trust
  4. Pick a cover photo that means something to you, this could be the IRGT logo, a picture of you and your retired greyhound or just of your canine buddy
  5. Your fundraiser will be published – all you have to do now is invite your friends!
  6. You can also match donations if you wish, all monies raised will go directly to The Irish Retired Greyhound Trust to aid them in their work of finding forever homes for ex-racing greyhounds.
