As always, please be mindful of portion control and feeding treats (such as those below) in moderation to help keep your greyhound buddy healthy and happy.

Easy sweet potato pancakes

Ingredients:

  • Approximately 100g of sweet potato
  • 2 eggs

Topping options:

  • Blueberries, strawberries, and/or bananas
  • Peanut butter (check it doesn’t contain the sweetener xylitol as this is toxic to dogs)
  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C / 200°C Fan / gas 6.
  2. Bake the sweet potatoes in the oven for around 45 minutes.
  3. Leave until completely cooled.
  4. Scoop out the middle of each sweet potato and mash together with the eggs.
  5. Make rough pancake shapes with the mixture and heat a frying pan on medium heat.
  6. Once the frying pan has warmed up, add your pancake shapes to the pan. Don’t flip the pancake too soon or you might break it!
  7. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
  8. Once cooked, allow your pancakes to cool enough for your dog to eat, and top your pancake with blueberries, chopped strawberries, and/or a chopped banana – you could also spread peanut butter (be sure that it doesn’t contain the sweetener Xylitol), and if you really want to go for it, you could pop some of the peanut butter in the microwave for a few seconds and then drizzle it over your dog’s pancake…yum!

Apple and banana pancakes

Ingredients:

  • 1 apple
  • 1 banana
  • 2 eggs
  • 50g plain flour (can be substituted for the same weight in oat flour if your dog is gluten intolerant)
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Topping options:

  • Blueberries, strawberries, and/or bananas
  • Peanut butter (check it doesn’t contain the sweetener xylitol as this is toxic to dogs)
  1. Cut the apple into small pieces and mash the banana.
  2. Mix together the apple and banana, along with the eggs in a bowl.
  3. Add the flour and baking powder and mix.
  4. Heat a frying pan on a medium heat and once it has warmed up, pour some of the mix into the pan and cook for around 2 minutes on each side.
  5. Repeat with the remaining mix.
  6. Once your dog’s pancake(s) has cooled down enough to eat, add your toppings - blueberries, chopped strawberries, and/or a chopped banana – you could also spread peanut butter (be sure that it doesn’t contain the sweetener Xylitol), and if you really want to go for it, you could pop some of the peanut butter in the microwave for a few seconds and then drizzle it over your dog’s pancake!
